Aedes mosquitoes are a major issue in Granite Bay. These mosquitoes, known for their aggressive biting habits, prefer to feed on humans. They are capable of spreading dengue, yellow fever, and chikungunya. Aedes mosquitoes lay their eggs in areas that will hold water. Their eggs can survive dry periods and hatch when conditions are right.
Two significant species, Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, are common. Aedes aegypti, often called the yellow fever mosquito, thrives in urban settings and breeds in small water containers. The Asian tiger mosquito, Aedes albopictus, has distinctive white stripes on its black body. Both species are most active during daylight hours, especially around dawn and dusk.
Granite Bay Pest Control targets Anopheles mosquitoes in our mosquito control plans. These pests lay eggs on water surfaces, favoring locations with dense plants or algae mats. Their boat-shaped eggs are buoyant thanks to lateral floats. The larvae of Anopheles mosquitoes differ from other species as they lie flat on the water, lacking a siphon. Adults also stand out, resting their bodies straight, either at an angle or perpendicular to surfaces. These mosquitoes are known carriers of malaria.
In Granite Bay, five types of Anopheles mosquitoes are found, especially in areas with vegetation, algae, and farms. Active biting occurs at dawn, dusk, and after dark, making them a danger. Effective control methods are key to reducing their population and the risk of malaria transmission.
Culiseta mosquitoes are a regular presence in Granite Bay and other parts of California. These mosquitoes lay their eggs on water, with the eggs sticking together to create a raft. The larvae suspend themselves from the water surface at a downward angle. Adults have a bluntly rounded abdomen, and some species are known for biting hard.
Granite Bay sees four different species of these mosquitoes. While they tend to be less aggressive than others, they still create discomfort and potential health risks. Our mosquito control services help lower their numbers, allowing you to enjoy a safer and more comfortable outdoor experience.
In Granite Bay, Culex mosquitoes are well-known for transmitting diseases like West Nile virus, St. Louis encephalitis, and Western equine encephalitis. They tend to be most active at dusk, dawn, and nighttime. These mosquitoes lay their eggs on the surface of water, forming a raft-like arrangement. You’ll typically find them near ponds, stagnant pools, and other water sources.
These mosquitoes have light brown bodies with a banded proboscis. They primarily bite at night. The best way to control Culex mosquitoes is by eliminating standing water and using targeted treatments.
Our mosquito control starts with a careful inspection of your outdoor area. Our technicians will search for likely mosquito breeding sites, like still water and overgrown plants. To maximize the impact of the treatment, we recommend you tidy your yard and get rid of any standing water beforehand.
The treatment usually lasts around 30 minutes, although this may vary based on the yard size. Using fogging and the In2Care system, we reduce mosquito numbers in a way that’s safe for pets and children. The In2Care system keeps working even after our visit, preventing further mosquito breeding.
With our mosquito control service, you’ll enjoy continuous protection for your yard. Monthly treatments usually take about 30 minutes, depending on the size of your yard. To optimize results, clear away any standing water before our team arrives. Our kid- and pet-safe treatments let your family enjoy the yard without concern.
The In2Care system we use ensures lasting mosquito control by focusing on breeding areas. Monthly fogging creates a barrier that prevents mosquitoes from entering your yard from surrounding properties. Our experts will also help you identify potential mosquito hotspots and recommend simple preventative actions. Our treatments remain effective after rainfall, giving you consistent coverage.
